For Professionals

Collection and transport of the tumor cells and other associated blood or tissue collections are the first steps. Optimal media, conditions, tubes and procedures for collection, transport, and chain of custody will be provided in the tumor collection kit products made by INCELL.  Patients, Physicians and INCELL work together to coordinate collection and transport of samples.

Processing, cryopreservation, and growing the patient’s tumor cells in culture for testing are the next steps.  INCELL staff and collaborators have decades of experience and the company has proprietary technologies for processing, culture, cell expansion, and cryopreservation.

Testing and characterizing the cells follows expansion of the cultures in the laboratory to larger cell numbers. Cell-based assays will include genomics, proteomics, pharmacology as “theranostics” to provide a rational approach to personalized medicine for cancer.
Test options will include characterization of the cells for growth, molecular genomic and proteomic biomarkers, susceptibility to specific therapies that kill or inhibit the tumor cells, combined with other factors.
As appropriate, specific mechanisms or biochemical pathways will be targeted based on the properties of the tumor cells. These are expected to suggest a “personalized medicine” approach based on the unique features of the tumor cells compared to normal cells and tumors of the same type. This should lead to pharmaceutical, immunotherapy, vaccines, gene therapy, or other therapies specifically targeted to the unique features of the tumor cells for a rational therapeutic approach using already approved anti-cancer treatments and newly emerging therapies.

Currently, much of this type of work is still considered to be experimental research and development, although some components are approved as standard diagnostics testing.
